On 11 January 2026, the University of Macau Anniversary Open Day was successfully held. As part of the Open Day programme, the Centre for Educational Psychology and Early Childhood Education (CEPECE) organized an interactive activity entitled “Interactive Parent–Child Games: Fostering Empathy and Cooperation through Play,” which attracted enthusiastic participation from Macao residents, students, and families.

The activity featured two parent–child cooperative games designed to promote emotional communication, perspective-taking, and teamwork through playful interaction. In the first game, family members participated in pairs. One partner stood in front while the other stood directly behind. A teaching assistant presented an image card to the partner at the back, who then gently traced the image on the front partner’s back using their finger. Based on the tactile cues received, the front partner attempted to guess and reproduce the image by drawing it on a whiteboard. After completing one round, the pair switched roles and repeated the process. Each family completed two rounds in total. Families who successfully identified the images received a stamp on their Family Connection Card, adding a fun and rewarding element to the experience.

The second activity emphasized physical coordination and joint problem-solving. Parent–child pairs were asked to collaboratively transport a ping-pong ball into a box by jointly pulling and balancing a sheet of paper placed underneath the ball. The task required close coordination, clear communication, and mutual adjustment, highlighting the importance of cooperation in achieving a shared goal.
