On 14 November 2025, the Faculty of Education and Centre for Educational Policy and Comparative Education (FED-CEPECE) successfully hosted a seminar titled Effective Teaching Around the World: Methodological and Practical Insights. The event featured two speakers: Professor Ridwan Maulana from the University of Groningen and Dr. Yue On James Ko from The Education University of Hong Kong, who presented their latest research on effective teaching practices in Europe and Hong Kong, respectively.

Professor Maulana shared key developments, major findings, and future directions from the International Comparative Analysis of Learning and Teaching (ICALT) project. This international collaboration involves researchers from 17 countries and seeks to examine the core features of effective classroom instruction. He emphasized that although teaching is inherently complex, empirical research can play an essential role in addressing instructional challenges and informing practical improvements in pedagogy.

Following Professor Maulana’s presentation, Dr. Ko delivered a talk titled Can Resilience and Teacher Professional Growth Lead to School Success? A Structural Equation Approach. He explored the interrelationships among personal attributes, resilience, and professional growth, using structural equation modeling. He underscored that teachers’ resilience should be included in teacher professional development in fostering school improvement.

The seminar concluded with a group photo session, capturing the active participation of faculty and students. Attendees expressed that the event enhanced their understanding of effective teaching and its practical implications for educational development.
